Will Herbal Supplements Relieve a Dog's Allergy?

For the last two weeks, we have been treating Oz for secondary bacterial and fungal infections related to his allergies. We are happy to report that he is feeling and acting like his old self again.

The vet prescribed both antibiotic and antifungal medication to get Oz well again. Thankfully, he did not need to be on any steroid medication to reduce swelling or itching. The round of antibiotic will be completed soon but he needs to stay on the antifungal a bit longer, as fungal infections can be sneaky and pop back up again.

The Ups and Downs of Canine Allergies

Oz has been having a terrible time with allergies this season and they all came to a head a few days ago when I noticed he had ear infections in both ears. He has spent a lot of his days resting in his various beds around the house but has taken a special liking to his TrustyPup Remedy Rest dog bed since it allows him to bury himself in plush comfort.

About a month ago, our vet recommended trying a new allergy medication which is a monthly injection. It is called CADI - Canine Atopic Dermatitis Immunotherapeutic and it is supposed to bind with a specific protein in dogs with atopic dermatitis and neutralize it.

The month of May is National Military Appreciation Month, a time for all of us to remember the sacrifices made by our military and their families. No matter your political view, we all need to let our service men and women know that we appreciate their role in protecting and defending our freedoms every day. Help Pet Paradise Donate $10,000 to a local Charity

Pet Paradise, an upscale pet boarding, pet day camp and pet grooming company plans to donate $10,000 to a local charity as part of their annual Life is Short, Make a Splash campaign. The campaign launched on April 8 with their Splash Bash contest to see whose dog could make the biggest splash in the resort pool.

Between May 1-31, the local community can nominate their favorite 501(c)3 organization on the Pet Paradise Facebook page. As part of the contest, Pet Paradise hopes to raise awareness of amazing charities throughout the United States.
