Summer Pet Travel for the Raw Fed Dog #StellaandChewys

For many pet parents, summer is travel season and nearly 40 percent will include their pets in their travel plans. Unfortunately, by the time summer arrives in Florida, our travel season with Oz is pretty much over. Since we enjoy outdoor adventures, we keep our pet travel season to the cooler months between October and April to avoid heat-related injury to ourselves and Oz.

Of course, we always hope our off-season travels inspire others to get-up-and-go with their pets when their adventure travel season arrives. As raw feeders, we are often asked how we travel with Oz’s food especially when we go on trips that do not allow for proper refrigeration.

To travel with a raw fed dog, you just need to pack freeze-dried raw food like Stella & Chewy’s Dinner Patties or Meal Mixers. For dog-friendly travel and adventures, freeze-dried raw dog food is as easy as 1-2-3…

1. Freeze-dried is lightweight. One thing we learned over all our travels, you can over pack for your pet as much as you can for yourself and no one enjoys carrying heavy bags. Packing freeze-dried food for Oz keeps his bag much lighter and easier to tote around a hotel or a campsite.

2. Freeze-dried is shelf stable. Since freeze-dried does not need to be kept refrigerated or frozen like fresh meat, it is great for all travel – hotel stays, camping, and long road trips.

3. Freeze-dried feeds well. Stella & Chewy’s freeze-dried raw dinners provide 100% balanced nutrition for dogs. Preparation is quick and easy with the addition of a small amount of water. Freeze-dried raw can also help whet a picky dog’s appetite while on an adventure.

We look forward to seeing all your summer pet travel adventures as we hunker down in the air conditioning for the season. Will you be packing some freeze-dried raw food to keep your bags light and your dog happy?
