In the Heat of the Day

It is H-O-T here.  The temperatures have been hovering around a "Feels Like" temperature of 100 degrees with the humidity and clear skies.  Ma and I have been doing a lot of this in front of the oscillating fan:

Oz the Terrier trying to survive the heat of South Florida with no air conditioning

And here's why:

The compressor to our air conditioning unit pooped out on Sunday afternoon.  The repairman is a poophead because he couldn't get here until today to "take a look" and see what's wrong.  So, Ma and I are pooped from the heat in the house.  We hit a record temperature of 91 degrees in the house yesterday.  (Daddy-dog says this is good training for a post-hurricane power outage but I'm not buying it!)

It is part of the reason we have not been around commenting on your blogs.  We have been reading them on the phone because the computers start to overheat too quickly since it is so hot - and it is difficult for Ma to type a comment on the phone.

We do apologize and hope that our air conditioning will be fixed SOON  so we can resume our normal blog visits.  I will be going around intermittently tomorrow - a little at a time so the computer doesn't poop out too!

  4. Ew, Oz. I feel for you and your Ma. We are just returning to Florida today, so we'll be in the immense heat right with you. But, there's nothing worse than not being able to get some relief in the AC! Good luck getting it fixed today. We all understand. Sending you big hugs, wrapped in a cool breeze!

  14. Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding Oz your ringer sounds a little off with the heat! We are suffering also with the oppressive humidity. Humidity is what gets us. Today thankfully it is down a little. No wonder your AC pooped on you why with the heat it was doing overtime and probably was not getting paid. We keep having brownouts. Our Beckjorg Power Plant closed and now our energy comes from Rabbit Hash a town on like 315 people on the last census an my street is the last on the line. I think I had better get use to brownouts. I need a whole house generator. Lee says cost to much. Such is life. Get out some ice packs and stay in the shade.
If I run into a cool breeze I will send it your way.
    Thanks for being a friend

  16. UGH! No A/C in that heat is just miserable! It happened at my house once a few years back. Hard to imagine what life before A/C must have been like long term. I guess no one moved at all for the whole summer!

My sympathies; I know exactly what you mean by high temps lately. It completely wipes both Sam and me out and we have to wait until dark to get in our evening walk, otherwise the sidewalks scorch tender paws. Our paws are crossed that the AC guy can diagnose and fix quickly.

  27. Oh no, that is no fun at all, Oz. We don't get the heat like you do up here, but when we do get some we know just how energy zapping it can be. And SO hard to sleep.
We sure hope they got your A/C fixed. We hope since you were by our blog today that means it is.

  30. Keep cool, little mate. Sometimes SHE dampens us down with a face cloth and we sit under the fan....It feels good--not like a bath at all. We hate humidity. We just get the heat.

  37. Havin da A/C not working are tuff.

When I lived in LA, we didn't have A/C in my apartment and it got to be over 100 in da summer. Dat wuz real tuff - I'd get hosed down wif cold water and lie in front of da fan all day.

  38. Oh noes!!! I know that sucks Oz! Before Ma got AC (before my time, Thank Dog!), it used to get near 90 in the house!
Luckily, we usually get our natural AC at night (cool air from the ocean and sometimes fog), so Ma puts window fans in all the windows to suck in the cold air. She still does it, so we don't have to turn the AC on as much. I don't knows if you guys get cool air at night there (?), but it helps. Butts AC is better!! BOL!
Keep cool, and put a bowl of ice in front of the fan! (swamp cooler!)
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  43. Oh Oz you poor thing and your mom! We don't have central air, just window ones, and if it was that hot mom would die, literally. I hope it gets fixed real soon! But, this is why mom won't retire to FL or AZ its too hot to walk me, she wants to move to Seattle or Portalnd! Love Dolly
