#WOOFSupport The Blog Hop

As many of you know, I recently started WOOF, or Working Out Our Fears, an online support group where reactive dogs and their owners can seek support from others who are dealing with similar issues and experiences.

The group started on Facebook last Thursday and already it has 60 members!  I could not have imagined it would grow so big so quickly but I'm glad it has; it is nice to know that I am "not the only one".  I bet others feel that way too.

But WOOF Support will also be a monthly Blog Hop, on the SECOND Thursday of each month.
It was not easy to find a "good" day for a new Blog Hop; there are so many fantastic weekly and monthly hops on everyone's calendar.  But WOOF Support will only be one day a month; my co-hosts and I hope that will make it easier to participate, even if you have to give up another blog hop on that one day.

And speaking of co-hosts...Roxy the Traveling Dog and Wag 'n Woof Pets will be hosting the WOOF Support Blog Hop with me.  Thank you both!

So, without further ado, here is the information for the first official WOOF Support Blog Hop:

Date:  Thursday, February 13, 2014.
The linky will remain open on all three of our blogs from Thursday the 13th through Sunday, February 16...just in case you cannot join in on the actual day.

Theme:  "What It's Like to Walk in My Paws/Shoes" (depending on the 'voice' you write in).
Let's get to know each other by talking about: our own reactivity (if you have already posted about this, give us a short summary and provide a link to the older post), any training techniques and their success or failure, how it feels to walk a reactive dog (embarrassment, fear), etc.

If you are planning to participate and have yet to grab the Blog Hop Badge, you can find two designs on my WOOF Support page.  Please choose whichever one you like best.

Also, if you are on Facebook and have not yet joined the WOOF Support Group, please consider joining us there too.  (FYI...Faceboook Groups only allow members as profiles, not pages.)

My co-hosts and I will post a Blog Hop reminder in early February.  I will also post a reminder in the Facebook group.  But mark your calendars now if you want to participate!

We hope you will join us!

  2. Sounds great! I'm ashamed to admit I've never blog hopped before - I'm going to mark the date and download a badge, but is there an idiot's guide I should read? Thanks :)

  4. Mom just joined your FB group, Oz. I have my own set of fears, as I suspect most of us woofers do, so it'll be good to see what others do to overcome theirs.

  11. Great idea! Dog blogs are such a great resource for this - but a group is an excellent idea (so is a blog hop), because sometimes you can't always dig through the archives of all the blogs you follow to find what you're looking for. And Facebook is a great platform to try to attract some non-bloggers, too!

    1. Sorry, I know. There are so many new hops but most are weekly...which is why we are doing monthly. This way it is not such a burden.

  16. Glad your idea is taking off, I think there is a lot of support for it out there. The once a month hop is also a good idea as long as everyone remembers when it is. I have pawed it on my calendar.

  21. Great idea for a hop and for your group. I don't have a reactive dog on leash but reactive in other ways but I would like to follow along from a professional view to hopefully gang some ways to help out my clients dogs in the clinic.

  25. LOL hope people don't give up our Thursday hop. ;) I don't have reactive dogs so not sure I have much to contribute, but I look forward to reading. Best of luck with it. :)

  26. Yay! I can't wait for the blog hop so I can see everyone else's situation. I really think we can learn a lot from each other. And by recognizing we are not the only responsible dog people with this problem, it will help us be less embarrassed and deal with the situation better.
