Nite Dawg Fever

"Nite fever, nite fever...we know how to show it...."

The nice people at SafetyGearOnline asked me if I would try one of their products - a new collar that lights up for nighttime walks.  I, of course, said yes because I love trying out new things and I thought I would look fabulous in a "disco" collar.

I only had to wait a few days and then...POOF...I received mail.  In there, among some wonderful holiday cards from my pals, was a package from SafetyGearOnline.

This is MY mail so back off!

I immediately opened the package and pulled out my new Nite Dawg LED Collar for inspection.

Smells like a collar...

The Nite Dawg LED Collar glows continuously, or blinks, a bright red light so a dog can be seen walking around at night.  Further reading tells that it is water-resistant (but not waterproof) and the battery, which is like a watch battery and is replaceable, lasts for up to 150 hours.  It comes in three sizes - Small (10-13"), Medium (13-18") and Large (18-27").

So, last night I gave the Nite Dawg LED Collar the terrier test.  I took Ma out for a walk:

Did you see me?  I was aglow in red light.

We continued walking and I was, well...how can I say this...uncooperative.  Ma kept trying to video me and I was dashing all over the place!  Of course, with the new Nite Dawg collar, she could still see me so she kept trying to get me "on tape".  (I may have to re-think this...there's no sneaking away with this collar on!)

Then, I had a pawesome idea!  I tried to hide from Ma by blending in with the neighbor's holiday decorations.

This is not working...

In final review, I would say that the Nite Dawg LED Collar is pretty cool though a bit bulky for continuous wear.  If you live in a rural area, or a neighborhood with poor lighting at night, this collar would be great for your nighttime walks - just snap it on and go!

Personally, I think it is also a great addition to a Hurricane Preparedness Kit - South Florida (or any place in the hurricane "line of fire") can be very dark when a hurricane hits and knocks out the power!  During those times, Ma does get jumpy because she cannot see me at the end of the leash (since I am dark-furred and blend in with the dark really well)...so this Nite Dawg LED Collar will definitely keep her calmer on those walks.

The price is pretty close to what a normal collar would cost so if you are interested in a Nite Dawg LEDCollar, jump on over to SafetyGearOnline and order one!

See you at the disco!!!

    1. RA - It is such a cool collar. Hard to see from the videos because my hair is a bit long right now and covers up part of the collar....but it is pretty bright and glows all the way around!

The pack would look so cool in light up collars!!

  3. Hey Oz, Jet here.

Dude, great suggestion for the Hurricane box. Great minds... Mom purchased a LED collar for me and a Leash for JJ... We were about to post, however, the leash has some technical difficulties... we're on leash 2 and it has the same issue...

Mom frets since I blend in with the color of night... now I have a white "glow" peaking out from my fluffy fur!

    Great, great product idea!

    1. Hi Jet!

Once we started on our walk, Ma thought of the Hurricane box idea! We definitely could've used it years ago when we had all those storms and were without power for so long.

The moms can be such fretters, can't they...when they cannot see us in the dark?!?

    1. BOL! I'll try anything sometimes to get Ma from draggin' me around on the leash. Too bad she could still see me even though I blended in pretty well.

Oh, let me know if you get one and I will take you out on a dancing date!!!

      Hugs,

  8. Oskar pal I agree this would be very helpful when the hurricanes put out the lights, and also on night hikes in the woods...Wondering how heavy it is? You said bulky but is it still comfortable for you? *snoogles*

    1. Gizmo:

You are right, I did say it was a bit bulky but I meant that in regard to wearing it 24/7. It's not that heavy but where the battery is stored, it's thick.

Otherwise, for a long walk, hike, etc. I think it is just fine and comfortable. It's the same material as a regular collar and is adjustable, so it fit well. I didn't try to shake it off or anything like that.

You should give it a try...especially for your night hikes!!!
