Backyard Blooms

Aside from pineapples, we do have lots of other plants growing in our backyard including roses and orchids.  The roses don't really bloom too much during the summer because it is so HOT but sometimes the orchids will bloom.  We have several different kinds of orchids, but we don't know what any of them are called (named).  BOL!  Most of our orchids look like this one:

There are also some orchids that we have had, either in standing pots or hanging in the tree that have NEVER bloomed but they always grow new leaves and such so Mom wouldn't get rid of them.  When people asked "Oh, what color bloom does it grow?" Mom would just shrug and say something like, "Who the heck knows!"

Anyway, one of those never-blooming orchids just bloomed and Mom was real excited!  It is really pretty, see? (There is a nice breeze blowing, so the photos are a bit blurry - at least that's Mom's excuse! BOL)

None of our other orchids are of this yellow and maroon coloring.  Pretty cool, huh?
