Do you have a nervous or anxious dog? Do loud noises, like thunder or fireworks, make your dog scared? We received PetSafe® Busy Buddy® Chamomile-Scented Calming Toys 2-pack in exchange for sharing about the new product but Oz the Terrier only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. PetSafe is not responsible for the content of this article.

The PetSafe Busy Buddy Chamomile-Scented Calming Toys are designed to keep your dog busy playing while keeping your dog relaxed and worry-free. The Calming Toys come in a two-pack with the durable Squirrel Dude™ toy and the Barnacle toy both of which offer chambers where you can put treats, kibble or peanut butter to reward your dog for playing.

Both Calming Toys are scented with chamomile to help promote relaxation. Chamomile is known to have muscle-relaxing, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties and has been used effectively as a supplement for dogs and cats. Used as an aromatherapy, as it is with the PetSafe Calming Toys, it can be a great natural remedy to alleviate stress and anxiety.

Oz loves almost any toy that dispenses treats so I knew he would play with the Busy Buddy toys but I didn’t think much about him noticing the chamomile scent. Well, he noticed and why wouldn’t he? We all know a dog’s sense of smell is thousands of times better than humans.

petsafe chamomile-scented toys as aromatherapy for anxious dogs

Oz played with the Busy Buddy Chamomile-Scented dog toys like he would play with any durable rubber toy filled with treats. He pawed at the toy, licked it and tossed it about the living room. However, every so often he would stop to actually sniff and smell the toy. It is difficult for me to say that he became less anxious because Oz is generally not a nervous or anxious dog but maybe since the scent encourages a dog to stop and sniff, it would be an effective aromatherapy for nervous dogs.

The PetSafe Busy Buddy Chamomile-Scented Calming Toys sell for $19.99 and come in four sizes. The toys use PetSafe’s patented Treat Meter which can be adjusted by trimming the prongs to allow treats to come out faster. The two-pack also comes with a booklet that includes training and behavior advice from professional dog trainers. Calming Toys are dishwasher safe.

Do you know a dog that could benefit from PetSafe Busy Buddy Chamomile-Scented Calming Toys?

  12. I love the idea of the chamomile. I drink chamomile tea to relax. Ruby has separation anxiety and what I call pre-separation anxiety when she knows we are about to leave. Wonder if this might help?
