Toyota Sequoia: Built for Extraordinary Adventure #LetsGoPlaces

When we traveled to Memphis a few weeks ago to participate in the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, we rode in a 2016 Toyota Sequoia Limited provided by long-time sponsors to our Habitat affiliate, JMFamily Enterprises and Southeast Toyota. We had never been in the Sequoia before and were worried if it would comfortably fit five adults plus all our luggage and tools and so we were very pleasantly surprised when everything, including the five of us, fit with room to spare.

Powerful Flexibility
The Toyota Sequoia is built on the same frame as the Toyota Tundra, making it a very large SUV. When Toyota says it has spacious and comfortable seating for eight, they are not kidding. Leg room in all three rows of seats is spacious and comfortable - we have never seen quite so much leg room in the third row before.

Sequoia’s third row comes with power reclining and fold-flat seats and with just the push of a button you can accommodate cargo as well as passengers. Both the third row and the second row of seats offer 60/40 split folding so you can take as much or as little gear as you need.

Our good friend spent the entire road trip in the third row and was very comfortable. We folded the 60 part of the third row to accommodate luggage and tools for the five of us and she still had plenty of room.

Perfect for Out of the Ordinary Trips
Our trip to Memphis was far from ordinary – five adults, five pieces of luggage, four bags of power tools, a medium-size cooler, a 6-foot banner and five “carry-ons” (backpacks) – packed into the Sequoia for a 15 hour drive. If the Sequoia could handle that we believe it could handle almost anything.

We have wanted to test drive the Sequoia for a while now, hoping at retirement this would be a great vehicle for us and our camping adventures. I was a bit unsure about driving the Sequoia at first due to its size. We own a Tundra and I am not particular to driving it; I much prefer my small crossover SUV the RAV4.

However, I really enjoyed driving the Sequoia. It has a very smooth ride despite being such a big “truck”. And yes, it will be a great vehicle for when we upgrade from tent camping to travel trailer (camper) camping because it has amazing 7,400 lb towing capacity.

Passenger Safety
The Toyota Sequoia is equipped with the Star Safety System™ that includes enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brake system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and Smart Stop Technology.

The Sequoia also includes an advanced airbag system which helps to protect all passengers with driver and front passenger dual stage airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, driver knee airbag, front passenger seat cushion airbag and roll-sensing side curtain airbags for all rows.

Since the Sequoia is such a large vehicle, we loved, and really relied on, the Blind Spot Monitor on the side mirrors. In addition, the backup camera was perfect for avoiding objects when driving in reverse.

If you love an extraordinary adventure like we do then you will surely love the Toyota Sequoia. It is Anything but Ordinary. Let’s Go Places!

Mom knows what you mean about size though. Before the got Gracie, our Higlander, mom drove a CR-V. It took some time getting used to the bulk. I only ride in it to/from the vet and mo loves listening to the song of my people too.

  6. I hadn't heard of the Sequoia before. I also love my Rav4, it's the perfect size for us, but if we ever needed anything bigger we would definitely look at this!

  8. Ding Dong William calling ~ Ozzie we like your Mom enjoy buzzing around in our Toyota RAV4. But we have an old one with the tire on the back, we don't like the new design. A RAV4 should have the tire on the back. Let’s Go Places! Oz you are always going places.
Did you work on the same house President Carter and his wife worked on ~ I think they said it was house nine.
    Thanks for being a friend
