When to Bathe a Dog

According to the ASPCA, dogs need to be bathed only once every three months, give or take, especially if you brush them often.  So, when would you bathe your dog more often than every three months?

Oz the Terrier takes a bath

Well, if your dog loves romping and rolling outside, more baths might be necessary because they are dirty, dirty dogs.  If they have allergies that affect their skin, then your dog may need to be bathed more often with medicated shampoo to stop excessive itching and skin irritation.

And then there is the most obvious reason....because your Ma got a product to test out that has to do with BATHS, like a Luv 'n Emmas Dry Pets Towel!  Stay tuned because we will be reviewing the towels this week.  Good grief...how I suffer for my blog sometimes!

Happy Wordless Wednesday!

  8. We are once a month - we always get our bath the day before our flee and tick treatment and once a month helps keeps the allergies under control - more than that and out skin gets to dry and less than that we build up to much allergens in our Swiffer duster fur :)

  13. Luckily, with huskies they rarely need baths. I mean, mostly they only need a bath twice or 3 times in an entire year unless as you mentioned, they romp around in the mud, or those dogs who tend to like to roll in nasty stuff!!!

  15. Our mom says a 3 month schedule would not work out for me and Stanley. We have had meetings on this very subject. We even went into mediation one time. All mom does is point to the spot on the bed where we cuddle next to her and we hear the words "case closed"!

  17. We are also of the thought that every three months is an ample amount of baths for any dog. However, convincing Mom of that is not so easy. She mumbles something about a hound dog smell and *plunk* I'm in the bathtub! We have a Luv n Emma's towel and love it.

  20. Mine go in spurts, sometimes they get a bath twice a day during hunting season and when Nellie runs off and rolls in dead stuff.

  21. One good thing about having a younger sister is I can make her do all the shampoo type reviews which means I can pass on the extra baths!

  22. After a day of torrential rain, I dug out the old ShamWoW. They were not happy being out in the rain, they didn't want to walk under an umbrella, and they didn't want to wear their raincoats.

  23. Oh, Oz, that's just not right. Can't the towel wait for three months?? Unless Rita is really dirty, she actually only gets a bath about every 6 months. She'd prefer one every, oh, six years....
