Do You Dress Up Your Dog?

Tomorrow is National Dress Up Your Pet Day.

Oz the Terrier in bow tie from Golden Woofs for National Dress Up Your Pet Day

Oz will wear clothes - tee shirts and sweatshirts - when it gets cool outside or for a photo shoot but he generally doesn't like to wear clothes.  I cannot say I blame him since we live in such a hot climate; most of the year we are trying to cool off, not get warm.  Oz will happily don a bow tie on his collar though like this one that Sugar the Golden Retriever's mom made for him during the holidays.

So I am wondering, do you dress up your dog?  Is it only during winter for warmth or do you dress them up for special occasions to?  Do they like it?

Will your dog be decked out for National Dress Up Your Pet Day?

  3. I like bow ties and I wear a coat when it is cold outside... it's not easy to get clothes for big dogs... and just between us, I'm glad for that, think my mom would dress me up efurry day lol

  4. Ruby likes sweaters and jackets, but that's it. Pip, however, loved everything - costumes, bow-ties, pajamas, etc. He would get so excited even at the site of clothing. The only thing he didn't like were boots, but who could blame him. LOL

  7. the occasional bow tie is the limit to our clothing - it just doesn't work with all our furs :)

  8. Love the bow tie. Brown dawgs love to wear their hunting vests but they don't love the stuff I make them wear for posts.

  9. YOU look Quite DASHING in your Bow Tie.

WE actually LIKE to do dress up... fur ANY occasion.... We would LOVE our coats and Sweaters (the FREAK FREE ONES) if it weren't fur the Cold and Snow that causes us to NEED them.

  10. Hey Oz!
Wow, you have a cool collection of bow ties! I like my fancy collars and bandanas. A sharp dressed dog can never have too many danas. BOL

I must admit I get a tad light headed when I see a handsome man in a bowtie...just sayin'
Now as for me getting dressed up. Mom says she'd have to call in all the Green Berets, Special Forces and Navy Seals to hold me down. Since they aren't available I just wear the same old fur coat every day

  15. We usually only dress up for special occasions and photo ops. We all three have nice snuggly coats but for some reason we don't think we can go potty when they are on so we don't wear them often - except for Mabel - she wears hers to go to class

  16. The boys enjoy dressing up. I believe they think they look dashingly handsome in anything they wear. LOL! I wrote a guest post on BlogPaws about Dress-Up Your Pet Day. It will run tomorrow so please, check it out. ♥

  17. If my dog were small (and less furry) like Oz, I would try it more. Dakota doesn't love it and has so much fur it is hard to get anything that would fit over all of that fur! DakotasDen

  18. I only wear my collar and if it is way below zero out, I will wear my boots to prevent paw freeze, but no clothes for us. Sure I dress up for photos, but that is more of a modeling career thing. I wouldn't walk around like that. My furs are good as is.

  20. ONce in a great while we have to wear "something" for a special occasion, but generallly speaking we are lucky enough not to have to wear clothes. We love seeing them on smaller dogs because they really do look so cute.

  21. Mom doesn't dress me up, but I do have lots
of bandanas for everyday. I only wear them
when we go out in the SUV and I hang my head
    out the window.
I had a bow once but it got lost in my wrinkles LOL

  22. We're basically naked dogs! We can't move if wearing anthing more than a collar.

  23. Oz looks SO cute in his bow tie! Rita doesn't really dress up. She doesn't need to, cold-wise, but she doesn't mind a bandana now and then. Other than wearing a hat or headband for a quick photo shoot, a bandana is as much as she'll go for!

  24. Sometimes I do, but they hate it, so I think I will let them sit out of that this year!

  25. We just LOVE your bow tie, Oz!! You know that Arty and Dory LOVE to dress up...Jakey and Bilbo, not so much (although Bilbo wears a sweater all the time)...BUT in the chillier weather we all wear sweaters.

  26. Very dapper bowtie, O. Whenever Mom dresses me up, I know something fun is about to happen - We're going someplace, getting company, or I'm going to do my therapy work at the library or the VA. I used to try to eat my clothes, but now I know what they mean and I love them!

    Love and licks,

  28. Our dogs are naked most of the time and that includes collars. We do have a few bandanas they can wear on occasion.

  29. Yep, during our puppy kindergarten classes we always dress up the puppies to get them used to being handled and also in preparation for wearing their service dog jackets/harnesses.

  36. Jessie and I wear sweaters and coats for warmth when it's cold out, and we dress up for pictures for every howliday EVER. But we don't just wear clothes around the house.

  37. The bow tie is so cute! Luke loves to wear coats and sweaters in the winter. He really needs them because his fur is so thin on his underside.
