Cool Off with Strawberry Banana SuperGravy Dixie Pups

I am happy it is Summer but dog is it hot outside.  The South Florida "feels like" temperatures are nearing triple digits.  Last week when our air conditioning conked out, Ma was searching for a way to help keep me cool.  She remembered Sugar the Golden Retriever had a recipe for doggie popsicles with SuperGravy® so we ran over to her blog to check it out.

We didn't have the fruit in Sugar's recipe, but we had Clear Conscious Pet SuperGravy, so Ma went ahead and altered the recipe to suit the ingredients we had available.  She came up with Strawberry Banana Dixie Pups with SuperGravy.

SuperGravy is a holistic gravy mix for dogs and cats.  We had Beef Au Jus which is made with beef liver, organic super veggies, Chia and organic flaxseed.  It is great for mixing into frozen treats or pouring over the food of picky eaters.

We started with frozen Strawberry and Banana slices, a fresh Apple Banana (Manzana) and the properly measured out portion of SuperGravy.

Ma put them in the blender and whirred them all together.  The bananas helped make the ingredients a bit creamier.

She then poured the mixture into Rubbermaid Take-Alongs.  We love these little containers for freezing up all kinds of dog treats.  They are the perfect portion size and I can easily carry my treat to where I want to enjoy it.

I gave them a little taste test before Ma popped them in the freezer.  Once they were frozen, I was ready to cool off with my Strawberry Banana SuperGravy Dixie Pups.  Delicious.

Thank you to Sugar and her mom for inspiring this recipe!  Happy Tasty Tuesday!

  4. We are drooling over your refreshing treats there!!! Mom wishes she had tried that Super Gravy for Phantom - he was such a picky eater, but that might have enticed him a bit. Enjoy and maybe we can get Mom to make us some too.

  9. That looks tasty Oz! Shiner thinks this super gravy stuff sounds delicious. Is a manzana an actual fruit? I am confused now because I thought that was the Spanish word for apple lol.
