When Ma was at Global Pet Expo, she made it a point to visit the brands we love and use on a regular basis. One of the visits she was most looking forward to was the Bravo Pet Foods booth because they make some of my favorite frozen and freeze-dried raw diets as well as dry-roasted and freeze-dried treats. Who can forget me talking about the Homestyle Complete freeze-dried meals or delicious Duck Feet and Beef Trachea treats?
Ma and Little Oz even got to meet Miss Bette, one of the co-founders of Bravo. Ma enjoyed visiting with Miss Bette and talking about the Bravo brand and their new products. It turns out Miss Bette thinks I am super cute so she sent Ma home with almost every flavor of Bravo treats for me to try. She also sent me some more Homestyle Complete and even arranged for me to get some frozen all natural Duck Blend patties to try (since we can only ever get Beef at our store).
Bring on the Bravo! The only problem is - where do I start?
Since I'll be working with Bravo over the next few months, I thought I would start near the beginning and tell you about how Bravo allows you to customize your raw diet. I know not everyone feeds raw, and I know some who feed raw do not feed prepared raw, but why not know what Bravo has to offer?
Bravo Frozen Diets
Bravo's Frozen Diets are broken up into four groups - Boneless, Basics, Blends and Balance. Each group is a bit different to allow for more or less customization.
Boneless is 100% single-protein meat or fish with no added fruits, vegetable or supplements. To make Boneless a complete diet, you would need to add your own fresh fruits and/or vegetables as well as supplements like fish or flaxseed oil, probiotics, digestive enzymes and vitamin E.
Basics is 100% single-protein meat, organs and ground bone. Like Boneless, you would add your choice of fresh fruits/vegetables and supplements.
Blends is 100% single-protein meat, organs, ground bone and vegetables. You still add your choice of supplements like fish or flaxseed oil, etc.
Balance is 100% single-protein meat, organs, ground bone, vegetables and essential vitamins and minerals. They meet the AAFCO standards for complete and balanced nutrition.
What's interesting for those of you who do not feed raw regularly, you can use the Boneless, Basics and Blends as a supplemental feeding or "treat meal" if you want to add some fresh meat into your diet. I know, I know...some will say that you cannot feed kibble and then raw just once in a while...or to add raw is cost prohibitive because you're a big dog or multi-dog household. But you know what, you can.
Adding even a few meals a week of frozen or freeze-dried raw can be a healthy choice. Raw diets have a higher moisture content and for older dogs, dogs who exercise a lot or for dogs who live in a warmer climate, the added water/moisture will help keep your dog properly hydrated. Just a "treat meal" of raw can give you more energy and stamina, increase mobility in joints and help maintain a proper weight for your breed/size.
Bravo frozen and freeze-dried raw diets have been my meals of choice for some time now. Ma knows they are a healthy, and I know they are delicious. They are so delicious I have a hard time posing for photos with my food. It's like I am dying to eat in this photo!
If you are on a raw diet, have you ever tried the Bravo Pet Foods products? If you don't eat raw, have you ever considered adding some raw into your diet? Why or why not?

ReplyDeleteMy crew is strictly raw fed, and we have done both Bravo frozen, and Bravo freeze dried. Love them!
ReplyDeleteSure looks yummy. We have found that our dogs do better with a consistent diet so we don't tend to add in extras or switch often.
ReplyDeleteWe do use raw along with our regular diet. Bentley and Pierre both love Bravo.
