Dirty Dogs Take a Bath for Shelter Pets with Wahl and Petfinder Foundation

Have you seen those "adult beverage" commercials on television of "The Most Interesting Man in the World"?  Well, here is my impression of "The Most Interesting Man in the World"...I call it "The Most Interesting Dog in the Tub".

I don't like to take a bath, but when I do....

It is usually in the kitchen sink.

Funny?  Well, despite my dislike of anything that has to do with water - walking in the rain, swimming and TAKING A BATH - Ma signed me up to receive a gift bag from Wahl, a leading manufacturer of pet grooming products.  In the gift bag, I received:

Wahl's Oatmeal Shampoo - designed to soothe dry, itching, irritated skin.  It is a gentle, easy-to-rinse formula containing oatmeal, coconut, lime, aloe and lemon verbena;

Wahl's Odor Neutralizer - an odor-free formula designed to remove foul odors from furniture, pet bedding and *Gasp!* pets;

Wahl's Doggie Deodorant - self-explanatory really (and as if I need deodorant) with a Spearmint and Eucalyptus scent; and

Wahl's No-Rinse Waterless Shampoo - designed to give your pet a clean, fresh Coconut Lime Verbena scent without traditional bathing.

So, off we go for more b-a-t-h-s.  The Oatmeal Shampoo provides a rich lather without using too much of the product.  We really liked that it rinsed out of my double-coated fur quickly and easily.  The scent is very mild, which we also like...I do NOT like to smell perfumey...I am a boy, after all.

The Wahl Doggie Deodorant works well too (though I still think I do not need deodorant, but Ma says otherwise).  It works great for those last few days leading up to bath time...that is, if you get a little stinky.

Ma admits that she has not tried the Odor Neutralizer yet but she is planning on using it on my bedding.  We have used the No-Rinse Waterless Shampoo before and though it works well for those in-between-baths days, we did not use it this time because the scent is a little too strong for Ma...it tickles her allergies.

Overall, we really like the Wahl products.  We also think Wahl is a great company; they have currently partnered with Petfinder Foundation for National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month to help clean out America's shelters and give shelter dogs a fresh start.

According to a recent survey conducted by Petfinder Foundation, 3 out of 4 dogs entering shelters are in need of grooming but due to limited supplies and resources, only 2 of them will receive it.  So, Wahl and Petfinder Foundation are helping to get 10,000 dogs washed and ready for adoption during October and Wahl is donating 1,000 bottles of shampoo nationwide.  Isn't that pawesome?!?

You can help too!  Through October 31, you can submit a dirty photo (and by that I mean...you COVERED in DIRT) into the Petfinder Foundation and Wahl Dirty Dogs Contest on the Wahl Facebook Page.

The First Place Winner will receive:
  • a year's supply of Wahl pet grooming products
  • $100 gift card AND
  • a $5,000 grant and grooming supplies for their favorite local shelter or rescue

The two (2) top finalists will receive
  • a Wahl grooming kit
  • $50 gift card AND
  • a $1,000 grant and grooming supplies for their favorite local shelter or rescue

Come on, you know you want to jump on in!

NO...not in the tub with me...into the Dirty Dogs Contest on Wahl's Facebook Page.

Let's get down and dirty to help shelter dogs get ready for adoption!  Hurry...October 31 is right around the shower curtain!!!

Stay dirty, my friends.

  6. Ringy Lingy Dingy ~ Oz The Great and Powerful I knows this company why Lee uses Wahl clippers on me. The package she bought had a brush and comb and scissors all you need for a professional job. Unfortunately Lee is not a professional. Lee says the groomer is to expensive for our pockets at the present time. I think you were caller 666 today.
    Thanks for being a friend

  22. Oh we thought the waterless shampoo would keep you from having to deal with water. Too bad it bothers your mom's allergies. :)
