Wordless Wednesday: The Stalk

I was out stalking yesterday and I came across something odd (for Florida, anyway) in the Ficus bushes that separate our community from the school yard...

a Corn Stalk!

I live in the land where ANYTHING will grow!

    1. I think it is from a dropped kernel. It is where the landscapers sit and eat their lunch.

  8. Cool - and fresh corn to boot! We gave trying to grow it - the bugs would always eat it before it was ready. So are you going to climb that corn stalk and head for the land of giants?

    1. Yes, I am heading for the land of giants...once, of course, the stalk grows taller than me.

    1. I can't imagine from someone's garden in Florida! Maybe in the Midwest but not here. More likely an escapee kernel from the landscapers lunch!

  13. How funny. What a random place to find corn. It's nice anything will grow there! I have a black thumb, and our clay "soil" here in San Diego makes it tough to grow a lotta things!

    1. I know, right?!? Well, it is hard to grow edibles here in backyard due to all the bugs!

  19. How funny! I've never seen corn growing down here in South Florida, but being from the Midwest originally, I know it's supposed to be "knee high by the fourth of July" so that one looks ahead of schedule!

    1. I know! It is just odd and now there is a smaller, second one growing nearby. Hmmm, "knee high by the 4th of July"...then it is right on schedule.
