To The Memory of Marley Terrier

In December, we lost a dear friend, Marley Terrier, on Twitter and in the blog world.  If you didn't know Marley and his TerrierTypist than you missed out on a truly remarkable friend.  He was always there for everyone - welcoming and introducing new pals to each other and writing funny posts about his adventures on his blog, Marley and Lola's Border Terrier Life.

When Marley went OTRB, my good pal Ollie (@theGObros) informed me that all the friends were contributing letters, photos, anecdotes, etc. to a book for Marley's family.  Ollie made a special request of me...to write a poem for the cover of the book.

I held this poem from my blog since then so that Marley's family would be the first to read it and I now have permission from them to share it here.  So I present my elegy:

To The Memory of Marley Terrier

Goodbye, the often heard "ello for you",
We now sit and wonder, what do we do?
Whether morning, afternoon or evening,
There'll never be such a sincere greeting
To lift our spirits and cheer our hearts
And help new furiends with their Twitter starts.
O too soon! over the Rainbow you soar
In a proper sit, we still wait for more:
Big news from the weekend, weather reports,
Latest in food, teasing Lola for sports.
In with the typist, curled up in a lap.
Out in the garden, where you sneak in a nap.
But puddles of sun need not a canine
To bring in warmth and continue to shine.
A noble Border, one never afraid
To help a terrier who may have strayed.
Such generous gifts, to help dogs in need
Let all be inspired, no matter the breed.
Once more, ello; our goodbye and farewell,
Oh how short here, in this life you did dwell.
Let your bit broken heart beat and bound;
In fields o'er the rainbow as you race around.
