Fun Florida Keys: The Scenic Seashore Bike Ride

We took our bicycles on vacation so we could ride the Islamorada/Lower Matecumbe Key Bike Trail, also known as The Scenic Seashore Ride.  Ma has a dog-bed-like basket for me on the back of her bicycle so I got to go along for the ride.

I like to "hang ten" and catch the wind in my face!
The beginning of this trail is really just a bike lane on the side of the Overseas Highway, which has lots of car and truck traffic, so Ma and Daddy-Dog decided to put the bicycles on the truck and drive to where the trail actually separated from the road.  Even then, we had to join traffic to go over three bridges during our 12 mile journey!
Cars are zoomin' past over on the Highway...
The Scenic Seashore Ride is the perfect nickname for this stretch of bike trail.  There were plenty of places to stop, get off the bikes and go exploring along the Florida Bay!

Are there fishes in there?

Much better view of the fishes from up here!

  9. Wow Oscar, you're really good staying in the basket. I think I would leap out (although from what I've heard of Owner's bike-riding skills that might be the safest option for me!)

You look like you you've had a great weekend there.
