Update: Prepared for Hurricane Matthew

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments on yesterday's post. We are doing our best to be safe and prepared for Hurricane Matthew. We have all of our hurricane shutters up and bolted tightly in place over all our windows.

Our local news is telling us we can expect Tropical Storm force winds (30 - 60 mph) to start sometime early afternoon today. Graphics show that we will be getting hurricane force winds (above 75 mph) later this evening through the night into tomorrow morning.

Matthew is currently a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale. That means Hurricane Matthew has sustained winds - not gusts - between 130-156 mph.

If you see information about Hurricane Matthew on your local news and they show a map, 
we are located near West Palm Beach. 

We are sorry we haven't visited your blogs the last couple of days. We have been busy preparing for the storm. Don't worry, we have enough food and water to get us through the storm and for several days afterwards.

We will most likely lose power later today which means no computer and no internet. It is very possible we will lose cellular service as well. We are going to try and keep our social media updated for as long as we can so you can follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

If we lose power and cellular service (very likely), we will not be able to visit your blogs or update our social media, so we do apologize. We do have an old-fashioned landline telephone for just this type of occasion. It will go dead but it comes back more quickly after the storm. If we are not able to get our power and cell back for a few days, we will call Sugar the Golden Retriever to ask her to update you all on our status.

For all our friends who live north of us, who are in the path of Hurricane Matthew, we hope you all stay safe! We will be thinking and praying for everyone.
